SAFE PARKING CHARTER

I confirm by signing below that I agree to abide by the following rules and policies of the North Cockerington Church of England Primary School Safe Parking Charter which have been established for the safety of all our children. I also confirm that I will communicate these policies to all those who drop off or collect my child. I agree:

1. Children’s safety is my/our paramount consideration.
2. To drive safely, with due care and attention, within speed limits (20 mph) and in accordance with the Highway Code, being particularly mindful of the safety of all our children at all times.
3. To be safe and considerate to others when dropping off or picking up children outside school, allowing those with pre-school children to park in the spaces next to school.
4. To park with courtesy and consideration to others, observing all parking regulations in accordance with the Highway Code and in such a way that our children are able to enter and leave our school safely.
5. To avoid obstructing the school entrance/exit, including the playground gates
7. Not to stop or park partially or wholly on any pavement near the school in accordance with the Highway Code, principally avoiding mounting, stopping and parking partially or wholly on the pavement located at the junction of School Lane and Meadow Lane.
8. Not to mount any footpath or pavement with the purpose of stopping or parking on the ornamental grass areas opposite the School.
9. Not to stop or park at, or in close proximity to, the junction of School Lane and Meadow Lane.
10. Not to stop or park on the area marked by the zig-zag lines and double yellow lines, nor in the disabled parking space or the space reserved for the taxi without permission from the Head.
11. To avoid stopping or parking along the grass verges of School Lane.
12. To use the recommended parking areas:
a) along the pavement of Meadow Lane;
b) in the designated parking bays;
c) on the pull-in area next to the playground.
13. To vacate the designated parking bays as soon as possible at peak times in order to improve traffic flow and allow optimal use by other parents.
14. To park in Meadow Lane when not departing promptly (eg when meeting with other parents or teaching staff).
15. To avoid U-turns near the School.
16. To pay utmost attention to pupils who are walking or cycling to school.
17. To ensure and to take extra care that there are no children or others near my/our car before moving.
